Repressed memory is something that we all are really scared off. This memory can be a scar to someone that creates anxiety so mind forces use to discard it. But as it is a human mind we cannot discard a memory so it it repressed. But this repressed memory can become a horror to some people. This horror is something that we should a face. That is exactly what the boy does and try and face his fear. His Repressed memory is triggered through a sound that forces HIM, luddite to confront a change and face the horror buried deep inside his conscious. It is hard to get over and forget whatever happened to him years ago.
